Man Utd favourites to land Everton defender

Manchester United have moved into pole position to land Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite at the end of the campaign.

The 21-year-old had a good loan spell with PSV Eindhoven last term and he has continued to replicate the same level of performances at Everton.

This has grabbed the attention of elite Premier League and European clubs and Football Insider claim that United are leading the queue.

The Red Devils are set to invest on a new central defender in the summer with the prospect of multiple players heading for the exit door.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans have their contracts expiring at the end of June and no contract renewals have been proposed for either.

Meanwhile, there are also doubts surrounding the future of Victor Lindelof, who will enter the final year of his deal in July this year.

Harry Maguire's contract also concludes in the summer of 2025, but the club have the option to extend his stay for 12 months.

Branthwaite would be a fine acquisition for the club, but he won't come on the cheap with Everton said to value him at £50 million.
