Arsenal confirm contract extension for key defender
Arsenal have confirmed that defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract.
The Japan international joined the club from Bologna in the summer of 2021 and he has since been a valuable player.
Tomiyasu plays as a centre-back for his country, but he has operated in both full-back position for the London giants.
He was in fantastic form during the first half of the current season before his hamstring injury against Wolves at home.
Arsenal have now confirmed a new deal for the talented star.
A statement on the club's website read: "We are so pleased to have Tomi commit his future with us."
"Together with his natural ability and strength, Tomi's attitude, mentality and values are first-class."
Tomiyasu has doubled his wages with a new deal until June 2027. There is an option to extend his stay for another year.
He becomes the second defender to sign a new contract this month after Ben White. He is contracted until at least 2028.
