Mauricio Pochettino provides fitness update on Christopher Nkunku
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that Christopher Nkunku will be assessed ahead of the final game of the Premier League season.
The Blues face Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Nkunku could be in the starting line-up after scoring off the bench at Brighton.
When pressed on this, Pochettino said that the Frenchman's condition will be assessed to find out whether he can make the starting XI for the Blues.
However, the Argentine added that 90 minutes would be difficult and the club won't take risks with Nkunku, who has had an injury-plagued season.
He said: "Tomorrow, we are going to assess if he can start. 90 minutes is difficult. We won't take risks. We will take the best decision for him, then the team."
The Blues are currently sixth in the league standings with 63 points. A draw against Bournemouth would be sufficient to secure their position and Europa League football.
A defeat on the other hand could see Newcastle United leapfrog them with a win at Brentford. In that case, Chelsea will find themselves in the Conference League next term.
