Chelsea sign Zhirkov

Chelsea has signed Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow for £18m. The flambouyant winger was recommended by none other than Guus Hiddink. The Russian is the first signing by Carlo Ancelotti with many to follow.

Zhirkov had been in Chelsea's radar after his impressive performance at Euro 2008. The transfer will happen today after the play sign a four-year contract with Chelsea. The talented Russian can play anywhere in the left side including left back and as an attacking winger.

Chelsea are also in talks with Man City striker Daniel Sturridge and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Roos Turbnull.
