Man Utd face new challenger in pursuit of Mandzukic
Borussia Dortmund are joining Manchester United in the hunt for Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The 33-year-old has not been included in Sarri's Champions League squad and he has not appeared in any Serie A game since the beginning of the season.
The Red Devils are in dire need of a quality striker after the decision not to bring in a replacement for Lukaku who left for Inter Milan last season. Although it is believed that Manchester United are close to sealing the deal for Mandzukic, the Italian media outlet predicts fierce competition from Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants reportedly want to add more depths in their attacking line for the second half of the season.
Mandzukic has a lot of experience in the Bundesliga after playing for Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich, scoring 53 goals in 110 appearances. With Juventus, the Croatian has played 162 games in all competitions, netting 44 goals and 24 assists.
However, there are reports that Mandzukic is excited for his move to Old Trafford. He is even willing to halve his wage demands to make the transfer possible.
